Air Compressor Consortium
The objective of the Air Compressor Consortium is to accelerate the acceptance of natural gas engine-driven air compressors for industrial applications. The Consortium plans to achieve this objective by demonstrating the economic feasibility and improved reliability of standard packaged systems, and supporting the product market entry efforts of participating equipment manufacturers. It is a 15-member consortium that has formed a partnership with six equipment suppliers to increase momentum in this market and transform what had been scattered regional activities into a coordinated North American market development campaign. The consortium is establishing a number of showcase demonstration sites and creating market development tools such as product videos and economic screening software. Planned workshops will educate both equipment distributors and consortium members on benefits, operational issues and market hurdles facing engine-driven air compressors. In addition to near-term market awareness activities, the consortium brings to the effort outside resources, such as the partnership with Newcort LINC Financial that offers special leasing, loans and equity financing arrangements. The efforts of the consortium and its partners are already effective. Engine-driven system sales are up 30 percent since 1994, and user interest continues to grow.
